To help newly-recruited foreign teachers quickly integrate into campus culture, get familiar with teaching norms and improve their ability to educate students, our university recently organized centralized on-boarding training for newly hired foreign teachers. New foreign teachers from Britain and the United States gathered together. They completed their first induction lesson through systematic learning and interactive communication, injecting new vitality into the international education and teaching work for the new semester. The on-boarding training mainly covered rules and regulations, teaching norms and campus life.

In the session of policy interpretation and teaching norm guidance, staff from the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation interpreted the Foreign Teachers Work Handbook, Life Handbook, contract terms, visa application procedures, safety guidelines and other contents item by item and clarified teaching duties and codes of conduct to ensure the orderly development of teaching work. In view of the characteristics of international classrooms, supervisors and senior foreign teachers shared cross-cultural teaching experience, classroom interaction skills and student-adapted teaching methods. They discussed how to design interesting classes, stimulate students’ interest and improve students’ practical language ability, providing practical teaching references for newly recruited foreign teachers. In the session of campus safety and life service guidance, the training gave special explanations on campus safety, emergency handling, daily travel, daily life and other matters and all of the trainers patiently answered the questions raised by foreign teachers in work and life, conveying the care and support of the university.
