International Economics and Trade Program

1. Program Overview

The Bachelor's Program in International Economics and Trade was established in 2005 as a key applied core program prioritized by the college. Rooted in Guangdong and oriented toward the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, this program addresses the evolving demands of international digital trade and cross-border e-commerce development by cultivating high-caliber interdisciplinary professionals with solid general knowledge and expertise in international trade theory. Graduates are equipped to utilize data-driven analytics and AI tools to address complex international economic challenges and engage in import-export operations and market expansion. In June 2024, the program was designated as a university-level first-class program and initiated ACBSP accreditation procedures, during which it refined its talent development objectives and graduation requirements, developed a comprehensive curriculum framework, organized documentation materials, and enhanced internal quality assessment and improvement mechanisms.

2. In Ierms of Building A Strong Teaching Faculty

The department currently has one doctoral candidate, and six associate professors, with senior titles accounting for 35%; seven teachers possess dual qualifications as both educators and practitioners, representing 35% of the full-time faculty. Cao Yinhua was awarded the title of "Outstanding Teacher in Guangdong's Private Education Sector for 2025." Both Cao Yinhua and Gui Jiayue are designated candidates for the University's Teaching Excellence Program, while several other teachers, including Gui Jiayue, have received honors such as "Advanced Individual in Professional Ethics Development" and "Outstanding Teaching Quality Award."

3. Reforms in Classroom Teaching Methods

Our department has vigorously advanced the teaching reform centered on learning and guided by instruction, implementing outcome-based teaching evaluation. To date, 29 course groups have been established, each pursuing pedagogical reforms aligned with the Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) philosophy. The International Economics team led by Cao Yinhua has won multiple awards, including those at the Guangdong Peizheng University Teaching Innovation Competition and the Guangdong Provincial Teaching Innovation Competition; teachers such as Chen Aonuo, Liang Junhui, Guo Meng, and Li Xiaoling have received first prizes in the university-level Young Teachers Competition; and the project "Digital Teaching Innovation Practices for International Economics Courses Empowered by AI," chaired by Professor Cao Yinhua, was approved as a provincial-level educational reform initiative in 2025.

4. Advancing the Integration of Information Technology with Teaching Practices

Our department actively promotes the application of artificial intelligence in teaching and enhances the integration of information technology with instructional practices. The courses "International Economics" and "International Economics and Trade" have been recognized as high-quality programs by the university, yielding replicable outcomes that serve as exemplary models to elevate overall teaching quality across the program. The course teams for "International Economics" and "Cross-border E-commerce" are currently advancing initiatives focused on smart teaching methodologies and exploring pathways for deep integration.

5. Deepen Cooperation Between Schools and Enterprises, as well as Reforms Aimed at Integrating Industry with Education.

Our program has strengthened collaboration with the existing 21 industry-academia partnerships, explored curriculum-industry integration models tailored to the International Economics and Trade major, and implemented reforms to enhance industry-education integration.

Our specialized courses, including "Cross-border E-commerce," "Comprehensive Training in Cross-border E-commerce," and "International Marketing," invite experienced corporate executives to deliver lectures on campus. These sessions cover the current state and trends of cross-border e-commerce development, talent requirements for enterprises, and operational challenges associated with specific roles. By integrating real-world projects, they explain platform operation mechanisms, product selection strategies, and traffic management approaches. Students participate in hands-on exercises to bridge the gap between theory and practice, addressing the disconnect between classroom learning and industry realities. Additionally, students are organized to visit partner cross-border e-commerce companies for field visits, helping them familiarize themselves with the industry environment and clarify their career paths.

6. In Terms of Academic Competitions:

Our program consistently adheres to the principle of "using competitions to enhance learning and practice," organizing students to participate in academic contests to improve their skills. In the first half of 2026, we arranged for students to compete in the 8th National Digital Trade Skills Competition, with dedicated faculty providing comprehensive guidance throughout the process. Ultimately, our students won 24 first prizes, 34 second prizes, and 37 third prizes in this event.

As of June 30, 2026, the employment rate of graduates from our program reached 87%.
