Ⅰ. Introduction

The Applied Psychology program offers a Bachelor of Science degree. As a key discipline of Guangdong Pei Zheng College, it adheres to the core development orientation of “Strong Faculty, Practical Focus, and Promising Employment”. This program is designed to cultivate application-oriented professionals equipped with solid psychological theoretical foundations, systematic professional knowledge, proficient practical skills, comprehensive humanistic literacy and strong hands-on capabilities.

It cultivates high-quality psychological professionals for government departments, enterprises and public institutions, psychological counseling agencies, social organizations and educational institutions at all levels, underpinning the development of mental health services and talent cultivation across diverse fields.

The program comprises three specialized concentrations: Psychological Counseling and Guidance, Child Psychological Development and Education, and Social Psychological Services. Adopting the training framework of “Disciplinary Foundation + Core Courses + Specialized Electives”, it facilitates students’ personalized development and targeted career positioning.

The core courses include Physiology and Anatomy, General Psychology, History of Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Psychological Measurement, Psychological Statistics, Educational Psychology, Counseling Psychology, and Psychological Research Methods.

The program has established an integrated practical training system consisting of on-campus laboratories and off-campus internship bases. It features 9 specialized professional laboratories and 18 high-quality off-campus internship bases covering the fields of medical services, education, corporate operation and rehabilitation. Graduates enjoy broad employment prospects in school psychological education, psychological counseling, human resource management, Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), child psychological services and social work, boasting a high employment rate and widespread recognition among employers.

The Applied Psychology program has built a fully covered practical education system that integrates on-campus experimental platforms with an off-campus internship network.

On-Campus Platforms

The program hosts the Guangdong Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and is accredited as a Key Discipline of Guangdong Pei Zheng College. Its nine professional laboratories provide practical training in psychological assessment, psychological counseling, sandplay therapy and behavioral modification, enabling a seamless integration of theoretical knowledge and practical application.

Off-Campus Bases

The program has established long-term and stable cooperative relationships with 18 high-quality institutional partners, including:

· Oriental Speech Rehabilitation Technology Co., Ltd.

These bases cover the sectors of psychological counseling, child education, enterprise management and speech rehabilitation. They fully support students’ professional training and graduation internships, and effectively enhance students’ professional competencies and employability.

The program employs a total of 28 full-time and part-time teachers, among whom 11 hold senior professional titles and 13 hold intermediate professional titles.

• Teacher Gao Ran has won the Second Prize in the Guangdong Mental Health Teaching Competition for three consecutive years.

• Professor Wang Yuzhong secured the first National Social Science Fund Project in the history of Guangdong Pei Zheng College.
