Ⅰ. Introduction

The TCSOL program (Program Code: 050103), founded in 2016, is a four-year undergraduate program leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree. Located in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the program serves the national strategy for international Chinese language dissemination and regional economic and social development. It aims to cultivate versatile and application-oriented talents with firm political stance, deep patriotism, broad global vision, systematic knowledge of Chinese linguistics, Chinese and foreign cultures, and cross-cultural communication skills, as well as solid bilingual (Chinese and foreign language) teaching abilities, cultural promotion and event planning capabilities, and project management skills in international Chinese education. Core courses include Modern Chinese, Ancient Chinese, Classical Chinese Literature, Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature, AI-integrated courses (Introduction to AI and International Chinese Teaching, AI and Basic Writing, AI and Mandarin Training, etc.), and Cross-Cultural Communication. Two specialized tracks are offered: “International Chinese Teaching” and “International Language Services”. Spanish is a compulsory second foreign language, responding to the huge demand for Chinese teachers in Spanish-speaking countries (over 500 million speakers) and the Belt and Road Initiative extending to Latin America. The program features a progressive practical training system (Basic Cognition – Comprehensive Training – Innovation Practice – Graduation Combat) and deep collaboration with over 20 primary/secondary schools, an IB international school, overseas internship bases, and tech companies. Graduates work as international Chinese teachers, K-12 Chinese language teachers, IB school Chinese instructors, online education lecturers, cross-cultural exchange coordinators, etc. The average initial employment rate over the past three years is 90%. Many graduates have been admitted to prestigious domestic or overseas master’s programs or have served as volunteer Chinese teachers worldwide.

Ⅱ. Representative Highlight 

1. University-Industry Collaboration and Internship Bases
Leveraging the location advantage of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the TCSOL program has established a diversified university-industry collaboration network covering K-12 schools, international schools, overseas internship bases, and technology companies, providing abundant practice and employment platforms.

K-12 Practice Bases: Long-term partnerships with more than 20 primary and secondary schools in Huadu, Tianhe districts of Guangzhou and Meizhou (e.g., Sanhezhuang Junior High School, Jianling Primary School, Nord Anglia School), supporting teaching observation, internship, and on-the-job training.

International Schools & High-end Institutions: Cooperation agreement with Nord Anglia School, Guangzhou Panyu (an IB World School), offering international teaching environment practice; internship base with XMZXJ Information Technology Co., Ltd. (online Chinese teaching platform) supporting online teaching practicum.

Overseas Internship Bases: Agreement with PT WonderMind Education Technology in Indonesia, expanding Chinese education practice resources in Southeast Asia.

Achievements: Students Xie Keyi (Class of 2018) and Xu Huimin (Class of 2019) successfully stayed on after internships at Nord Anglia School, becoming models of “internship-to-employment” integration.

 

 

 

2. Competition Achievements
The TCSOL program emphasizes “promoting learning and practice through competition” and actively encourages students to participate in high-level academic contests. In recent years, students have achieved remarkable results in multiple national and regional competitions.

“Zhongxixijian Cup” National Comprehensive Skills Competition in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages:

2020 (4th Competition): Team of students from the Class of 2017 won the Third Prize (Undergraduate Category).

2021 (5th Competition): Team of students from the Class of 2019 won the Second Prize (Undergraduate Category).

2023 (6th Competition): Joint team of students from the Classes of 2020 and 2021 won the Third Prize (Undergraduate Category).

Cross-Language Reading Contest on Confucian Classics: Students participated in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th sessions of the contest, achieving outstanding results with a total of over 40 national gold, silver, and bronze awards.

“Heroes of Chinese Teaching” International Chinese Teaching Skills Exchange Event: In the 2023 Central-South China regional exchange, our student and faculty team won the Excellence Award.

Belt & Road and BRICS Skills Development and Technology Innovation Competition – Chinese + Vocational Comprehensive Skills (Mandarin) Category: In 2025, our student team won the Third Prize (University Group).

These competition achievements fully demonstrate our students’ solid Chinese teaching abilities, cross-cultural communication competence, and innovative practical skills.
