1.Professional overview

The arts and crafts specialty is a first-class undergraduate specialty construction point ( including junior college to undergraduate ). Relying on the national first-class course " lacquer painting I, " it has won the second prize of Guangdong Province Teaching Achievement Award. Based on the needs of the cultural and creative industries and the arts and crafts industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the specialty integrates traditional arts and crafts skills with modern digital design technology, and is committed to cultivating compound high-quality applied talents with creative design ability, exquisite process skills and digital technology application ability.

The program has formed distinctive school-running characteristics in the fields of traditional crafts such as lacquer art, ceramic art and sculpture. It has a high-level teaching team of Guangdong Provincial Arts and Crafts Masters and national non-genetic inheritors. Students have won many awards in various national and provincial professional competitions. In the past three years, teachers and students have won more than 140 awards in various competitions ( exhibitions ), which highlights the excellent teaching quality and talent training effect.

2.Training objectives

This program is mainly oriented to the design, production, planning and operation needs of the arts and crafts industry and cultural and creative related industries in Guangdong. It cultivates high-quality applied talents with professional knowledge of arts and crafts, strong design practice and digital art design ability, good communication and expression, innovation and entrepreneurship awareness, teamwork and other qualities, who can engage in creativity, design and production, product research and development in arts and crafts, cultural and creative industries.

Graduates can be competent for craft art teaching, professional art creation, arts and crafts design, cultural and creative industry planning and operation and other positions, with a solid foundation of traditional crafts and cutting-edge digital design capabilities, to adapt to the needs of the transformation and upgrading of the arts and crafts industry and the rapid development of cultural and creative industries.

3.Cultivating direction

( 1 ) Digital engraving direction

Cultivate compound arts and crafts talents who master digital engraving technology and numerical control processing technology. Students will systematically study courses such as numerical control three-dimensional technology and application, fashion virtual simulation design, etc., combined with traditional carving techniques such as gemstone carving and wood carving, they can engage in digital design and precision processing in the fields of design and production of arts and crafts, jewelry design, cultural and creative product development.

( 2 ) The direction of lacquer art

Relying on the national first-class course ' Lacquer Painting I ' and the Guangdong Provincial Teaching Achievement Award ' One Core and Three Paths ' training system, professional talents with lacquer art creation and design ability are trained. Students will learn core courses such as lacquer painting and lacquer craft, master the complete skill chain from traditional lacquer art techniques to contemporary lacquer art innovation, and be able to engage in professional work in the fields of lacquer painting creation, lacquer design, and cultural and creative product development.

( 3 ) Ceramic direction

Facing the needs of ceramic art and industrial development, we should cultivate compound art talents with ceramic art creation ability and product development thinking. Students will learn ceramic art production, ceramic creative design and other courses, master the systematic ability from traditional ceramic art techniques to modern ceramic design, and be able to engage in professional work in the fields of ceramic art creation, ceramic product design, cultural education and so on.

4. Core curriculum

The curriculum system of arts and crafts program covers four modules : traditional crafts, digital technology, design creativity and practical application, including :

● Traditional craft module : carving ( jade carving, wood carving ), pottery, lacquer painting, lacquer craft.

Digital technology module : CNC three-dimensional technology and application, graphics and image processing, fashion virtual simulation design

Design creativity module : process cultural and creative design, art planning and marketing, audio-visual language

● Professional core modules : lacquer painting ( national first-class course ), lacquer craft, craft cultural and creative design, etc.

Among them, the national first-class course ' Lacquer Painting I ' is one of the most distinctive core courses of the specialty. It inherits the essence of Guangdong lacquer art and integrates digital teaching methods to form a three-dimensional curriculum system of ' traditional skill inheritance + digital technology innovation '.

5. Faculty

The Department of Arts and Crafts has a strong faculty and profound academic background. There are 2 professors, 2 associate professors, 2 senior arts and crafts artists, 3 masters of arts and crafts in Guangdong Province, 1 inheritor of national intangible cultural heritage ( jade carving ), 4 doctors and 2 lecturers. The teachers are all graduated from Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts, Xiamen University, Beijing Normal University, Wuhan University, Macao University of Science and Technology, China Academy of Fine Arts, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, Nanjing Academy of Fine Arts, Fuzhou University, Korea University of Korea, Korea University of Gatoli and other well-known universities at home and abroad.

6.Teaching and research platform

The Department of Arts and Crafts has a perfect experimental training system, equipped with a number of professional training rooms and off-campus practice bases, which provides strong hardware support for students ' professional learning and creative practice :

● Sculpture training room : 1, equipped with professional sculpture tools and equipment

● Ceramic training room : 3 rooms, equipped with perfect drawing, firing and other equipment

● Gem and jade carving training room : 1 room, equipped with precision carving tools

● Woodcarving training room : 1 room, equipped with professional woodworking machinery and equipment

● Lacquerware training room : 2 rooms, equipped with lacquerware production process equipment

● Lacquer painting training room : 3 rooms, equipped with professional facilities for lacquer painting creation

In addition, there are more than 10 off-campus practice and training bases such as Guangdong Lacquer Art Inheritance Base, Guangdong Lacquer Art Research Center, Guangzhou Daxin Art Museum, etc., forming a three-dimensional practical teaching system of " on-campus training + off-campus base, " providing students with comprehensive support from basic training to professional creation.

( 1 ) Employment direction

The employment field of graduates covers art teaching in primary and secondary schools and social training institutions ; the curation and operation of cultural and artistic institutions such as art galleries, museums and galleries ; ceramics, lacquer art, jewelry and other arts and crafts enterprise design and development ; cultural and creative industry park project planning and management ; independent artist studio creation and management, etc., at the same time can apply for civil servants, institutions.

Graduates are well received by employers, and the employment rate remains stable.
